A day in the life of a cat

Cats are not owned by their owners; cats own their owners, which is a typical day in the life of a cat. This can be demonstrated through the various ways a cat will act. The main example would be when you call a cat over to give it some attention; however, cats will rarely come to you. The only way a cat will come to you for attention is when the cat wants the attention. It is also true to say that when the cat eventually wants the attention, that is when you are usually busy doing something else. It’s comical to watch a cat act so cheeky and yet act so innocent when s/he has been caught; purring their way out of trouble, like nothing is wrong. The life of a cat might seem very boring; however, throughout their days they find things to amuse themselves.

The first two pictures below represent the typical day in Rascal’s life. This guy will find the oddest places to sleep. Most days I will come home and not be able to find him because he has decided to sleep somewhere unpredictable, such as the dresser drawer. If any drawer is left open too long, such as 10 minutes, he will think it is for him to sleep in. This is especially true is there are clothes in the drawer. The life of a cat seems so nice. As mentioned above Rascal will find the most inappropriate times to receive his attention, such as lying on the desk. By lying on the desk Rascal believes he will receive the most attention possible. Therefore, this is also a popular spot for him. To top it off Rascal’s favourite game is to play with written utensil, especially when they are being used. This is the most annoying thing he does, but for him, it’s the most entertaining game in the day in the life of a cat.

The last two photos strongly represent Rascal’s favourite things to do in a day in the life of a cat. Giving a cat a bath could be the most dangerous thing to do in your life, especially if they have all their claws. However, we have outsmarted Rascal; we put him in a tub with water already in it. This way he is unsure of what to do because he is surrounded by his enemy, the water. Once the bath is over Rascal looses ½ of his body mass. As he twitches his feet and ties to lick himself dry, the life of a cat becomes amusing to watch. The next favourite activity of Rascal’s is to go for a car ride. He doesn’t literally get car sick; however, he is unsure of what to do unless he is in his crate to stay protected. The last picture was the day Cooper had his first official car ride; therefore, we gave him the crate. This did not go over well with Rascal, and so they shared the crate for a 45 minute car ride. Rascal was probably thinking "the things I have to put of with in the life of a cat." This is when we knew that they were going to get along just fine. Finding humor in a day in the life of a cat will bring humor to your own life.

Cat and Dog

When cats and dogs get along it’s the greatest thing because then they can keep each other company. Cats can be very unpredictable in whether or not they will accept a new animal, such as a dog in the house. Cats could be viscous and mean or the complete opposite, loving the new animal to pieces. In the end it is truly up to the cat to accept the new animal. Rascal was introduced to his new playmate: Cooper, over a year ago. They are both done their growing and are the same size now. These two have become best friends through playing with one another, sleeping on one another, and even giving each other kisses on the head. The cat and dog have officially become inseparable, if one leaves for too long, the other just mopes around the house.

Below is a video from YouTube that shows a relationship between a cat and dog. This was typical of Rascal and Cooper in the beginning. Rascal would always just put up with the new puppy’s amusements; however, after a certain point Rascal, like the cat in the video, would show the new puppy who is boss. Cats are great for initiating play-time; however, once the cat has had enough they also know how to end it. The cat’s paw it the ultimate weapon of choice. They can use their paw in a playful manner, as a warning, as well as to stop something annoying. However, as shown in the video the cat’s teeth are the last resort, and this is usually when they are completely annoyed. As the video shows, a cat and dog together can be very interestng watch.

Annoying but cute

Cats can be very unpredictable, such as being annoying and cute. These are the creatures that need 18 hours of sleep; however, always seem to be up to something new. Whenever someone hears about a new kitten around they automatically think of the destruction it will do: the drapes being shredded and the furniture becoming the new scratching posts. However, not all cats are as destructive as people make them out to be. Most cats are creative in their own unique annoying but cute ways. Such examples would be drinking out of the toilet, finding a plastic bag amusing, sleeping in boxes, and more. As a cat owner I am interested to see what he will do next.

The first video from YouTube is a perfect example of a cat being annoying but cute. This video was shown to me by a marketing teacher, and I could relate to it right away. Most people who either do not have a cat or who have a cat but it does not do this would suspect this to be untrue. The pawing of the face and the blankets is exacly what my Rascal finds amusing early in the morning. He either assumes I'm awake or he ran out of food. The great thing about this video is that it shows how once the cat knows your awake, it becomes all about him.

The second video from YouTube is the example of what people have in their mind about a new kitten in the house. Once the kitten/cat has found something amusing, it is unaware of what they are doing while playing around. Cats will find amusement out of the smallest things, which can be annoying and cute at the same time. Once Rascal has spotted a bug, he goes berserk over it until he kills it and he then just walks away. Rascal has the fascination of looking around the room, searching the walls and ceiling in hopes to find a bug to play with.
